sol

Before creating sol, we wanted to better understand the challenge of friendship building in adulthood. And as we expected, we learned that the challenge is much deeper than simply making friends...

There are unique needs for creating, nourishing, and expanding the relationships in our lives. And young adults need specific support throughout the 3 phases of the friendship journey.

The Exploring phase is about meeting new compatible people and figuring out how to keep up with friends from your previous chapters. This phase is all about building personal confidence, knowing what you’re looking for, managing your energy while preparing for. and having a high number of new interactions.

The Forming phase is about discerning the relationships that you want to invest more into. Maintenance and compatibility are both key factors, as we keep up with friends from our past chapters, build momentum with budding relationships, and squeeze in time to meet new compatible people.

The last Phase is the Nourishing phase. This phase is almost entirely about maintenance and investment in all of your new and old solid relationships, and far less energy (if any at all) is spent meeting new people. During this phase, relationship confidence is high, but scheduling, planning, and managing friendships can produce a lot of anxiety if you operate outside of a friend group model (Where you can see everyone at once).

This journey is circular and non-linear. the Nourishing phase may be the "ideal" state that people imagine in any new chapter of their lives, however, the journey moves back to phase 1, or perhaps around to phase 2 upon any new life change: a break-up - suddenly you have lost your partners friends, a move - suddenly you are starting from scratch, empty nesting - suddenly you have a lot more time!

sol allows friends to stay meaningfully connected throughout all these phases.
